Napoleon Police Department

An alarm was reported at 220 W. Clinton St. Monday at 11:06 p.m. Officers advised all was okay.

Lights were reported on inside the Henry County Senior Center and a vehicle parked behind the building Tuesday at 4:46 a.m. Officers checked and secured the building and vehicle.

An open door was reported at River CIty Bowl-A-Way Tuesday at 4:52 a.m. An officer advised a manager was inside the building and all was okay.

An open door was reported at LR Babcock Plumbing and Heating at 5:06 a.m. Tuesday. Officers advised all was okay.

Kyle McCabe, 19, was served a warrant for charges of drug paraphernalia Tuesday at 12:24 p.m. at 832 Oakwood Ave.

A driving complaint was filed at the city limits on State Route 108 for a vehicle all over the road Tuesday at 4:01 p.m. Officers were unable to locate.

A Playstation 3 was reported stolen from a residence at 415 Avon Place Tuesday at 4:33 p.m.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

A vehicle was reported in a ditch Tuesday at 12:32 a.m. on County Road M near County Road 7 in Harrison Township. Deputies advised the report was unfounded.

A warning was issued in a driving complaint filed on U.S. Route 24 in Napoleon Township Tuesday at 3:35 p.m.

An employee at Circle K in Liberty Center reported a drive-off theft of gasoline at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Disorderly conduct was reported at Napoleon Municipal Court Monday at 9:49 a.m. for a subject causing problems in court. Disorderly conduct was also reported in the 500 block of West Clinton Street Monday at 10:33 a.m.

A dog was reported running loose in the 800 block of Westchester Avenue at 12:05 p.m. Monday. Officers were unable to locate, but the dog warden was notified.

An MP3 player was reported stolen out of a vehicle parked at Wal-Mart Monday at 12:27 p.m.

A possible drunk driver was reported on North Perry Street near West Riverview Avenue at 1:50 p.m. Monday.

An alarm was reported Monday at 4:27 p.m. at 600 First Street.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

Judy K. Weber, 69, of Stryker was eastbound on U.S. Route 24 in Napoleon Township Monday at 7:37 a.m. when she struck a deer in the roadway. Weber was uninjured, but her vehicle sustained disabling damage.

A vehicle was reported in a ditch Sunday at 7:07 p.m. on County Road T in Napoleon Township. Another vehicle was reported in a ditch at 10:46 p.m. Sunday on State Route 18 in Bartlow Township.

An accident was reported on County Road D in Bartlow Township Sunday at 11:31 p.m. No other information was available.

A barn was reported broken into Monday at 8:55 a.m. on Township Road H in Bartlow Township.

A warning was issued for a bad check reported at Holgate Party Mart Monday at 2:02 p.m.

Deputies arrested a wanted person in the 800 block of Maple Street in Napoleon Monday at 3:18 p.m. The juvenile was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Adam Salaz, 21, of Defiance was arrested following a traffic stop on Enterprise Avenue at 4:08 a.m. Sunday. Salaz was charged with driving under the influence and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

Officers responded to 638 Beckham St. at 3:28 p.m. Sunday for a domestic dispute. Jesse James Ramey, 19, of Napoleon was arrested and charged with assault. He was taken to CCNO.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

Jason C. Crossland, 39, of Napoleon was southbound on U.S. Route 6 in Harrison Township at 7:29 p.m. Thursday when a deer ran into the path of his vehicle and was struck. Crossland was not injured, but damage to his vehicle was moderate.

Deputies are investigating a crash on Township Road 3A in Damascus Township that was reported at 4:05 a.m. Friday. A vehicle owned by Brian J. Chupa of Grand Rapids was reported northbound on Road 3A when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and into a deep ditch. The driver left the scene prior to rescue personnel’s arrival. The vehicle sustained severe damage and is being held until the driver is located and identified.

Dena L. Ward, 36, of McClure was eastbound on State Route 65 near County Road 2 in Damascus Township at 6:05 a.m. Friday when her vehicle struck a deer on the roadway. Ward was not injured, but damage was moderate to her vehicle.

Milton G. Balog, 86, of Liberty Center was westbound on County Road T2 in Washington Township at 9:23 a.m. Friday when the driver’s side mirror on his vehicle struck the driver’s side mirror on an eastbound vehicle, driven by Eric S. Bitzinger, 28, of Washington Township as the vehicles passed each other. There were no injuries, and damage to both vehicles was minor.

Donald H. Anderson, 53, of Weston was westbound on Rte. 6 in Damascus Township at 3:45 p.m. Friday when his vehicle struck a deer on the roadway. Anderson was not injured, but damage to his vehicle was moderate.

Loren D. Rosebrook, 64, of Deshler was southbound on County Road 7 north of Township Road H in Monroe Township at 5:35 p.m. Friday when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox, continued off the road and into a large ditch. Rosebrook was not injured, but damage to his vehicle was severe.

Joel N. Kryder, 40, of Napoleon was westbound on Rte. 65 in Damascus Township at 12:31 a.m. Sunday when a deer ran into the path of his vehicle and was struck. Kryder was not injured and damage was minor to his vehicle.

Deputies handled a civil matter involving workers at 9304 County Road 6 in Richfield Township at 2:36 p.m. Friday.

Deputies checked out a child custody issue on County Road 15B in Freedom Township at 2:59 p.m. Friday. A child custody issue was also reported at 2:18 p.m. Saturday on East Holmes Street in Deshler.

A dispute was reported at 606 East St. in Liberty Center at 9:16 p.m. Friday.

Deputies are investigating a breaking and entering reported at 9:41 p.m. Friday at 15475 State Route 424 in Flatrock Township. Extension cords, coils of wire and miscellaneous metal was reported stolen.

A battery was reported stolen from 610 Main St. in McClure at 9:41 a.m. Sunday.

A vehicle was reported in a ditch on State Route 18 in Holgate at 6:07 p.m. Sunday. A vehicle was also reported in a ditch on County Road T between county roads 12 and 13 in Liberty Township at 7:07 p.m. Sunday. No other information was available at press time on either incident.

Napoleon Police Department

Jean Delventhal, 77, of Napoleon was westbound on East Riverview Avenue Tuesday at 9:49 a.m. approaching the intersection of Hobson Street. A vehicle operated by Loucinda M. Triggs, 63, of Napoleon was northbound on Hobson Street, stopped at the posted stop sign at the intersection of Hobson Street and East Riverview Avenue. Triggs pulled from the stop and failed to see Delventhal’s vehicle, pulling out in front of it. Triggs could not stop and struck Delventhal’s vehicle. Neither Delventhal or Triggs were injured, and damage to their vehicles was minor.

A 9-1-1 hang up was reported at Rite-Aid Tuesday at 8:38 p.m. An officer advised all was okay.

A possible drunk driver was reported in the 1300 block of Oakwood Avenue at 10:08 p.m. Tuesday. Officers were unable to locate.

An alarm was reported at 1412 Scott St. at 2:02 a.m. Wednesday.

At 3:29 p.m. Monday, a vehicle owned by Kelly J. Borstelman of Napoleon was parked in the lot at East Pointe Apartments when it was found to have been struck in the left side by an unknown vehicle over night. No injuries were reported. Damage to Borstelman’s vehicle was moderate.

A subject at 1090 Glenwood Ave. reported identity theft at 10:06 a.m. Monday.

At 11:20 a.m. Monday, a semi was reported stuck on Dodd Street near Yeager Street. Officers advised the truck was making a delivery. A semi was reported driving aggressively Monday at 3:19 p.m. on Lagrange Street near Scott Street.


Officers responded to a domestic issues Monday at 2:20 p.m. and 9:18 p.m. in the 500 block of West Clinton Street.

A unwanted subject was reported on the property at 656 Euclid Ave. a 3:30 p.m. Monday.

A disabled vehicle was reportd on Haley Avenue near Woodlawn Avenue Monday at 6:39 p.m. At 8:04 p.m. Monday, a disabled vehicle was reported on U.S. Route 24 near U.S. Route 6.

JP Morgan, 48, of Napoleon was charged with drug paraphernalia and possession Monday at 8:41 p.m. following an incident at 1049 Dodd St.

Gayle A. Fenter, 33, of Defiance was northbound on County Road 24 in Ridgeville Township at 5:28 a.m. Tuesday when a deer ran into the path of her vehicle and was struck. Fenter was uninjured, but her vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Robert R. Watts Sr., 48, of Michigan City, Ind., was southbound on State Route 109 in Monroe Township Tuesday at 10:06 a.m. when his semi went off the right side of the roadway, struck the ditch and came to rest on its top. Watts was not injured, but his semi sustained severe damage.

Deputies responded to a residence on Township Road 9C in Liberty Township Monday at 7:54 p.m. for a verbal argument.

Tools were reported stolen from a residence at 113 N. Turkeyfoot St. in Malinta at 8:10 p.m. Monday.

Citations were issued at 6:43 p.m. Friday following a parking enforcement initiative in the area of Briarheath and Clairmont avenues.

Officers are investigating a possible breaking and entering at Speedway on Scott Street reported at 12:36 a.m. Saturday when an alarm at the business was activated.

Officers responded to Rick’s Sports Bar at 2:19 a.m. Saturday for a report of a disorderly conduct.

Michael Shumaker, 22, of Napoleon was arrested at 2:28 a.m. Saturday at 218 W. Main St. Shumaker was charged with assault and resisting arrest. A subject was also warned for trespassing in the incident.

A criminal trespassing complaint was filed at 3:04 a.m. Saturday by a subject at 1800 Oakwood Ave. An officer reported the incident unfounded.

Officers assisted with a child custody issue on Woodlawn Avenue at 9:16 a.m. Saturday.

An alarm was reported at a business in the 1400 block of Scott Street at 11:26 a.m. Saturday. An officer reported the incident was due to subscriber error.

Michelle Hanson, 48, of Toledo was arrested on a bench warrant at 7:40 a.m. Sunday. Hanson was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

Officers checked out a report of a small child walking down the street in the area of Glenwood and Lynn avenues at 1:45 p.m. Sunday. An officer reported everything was okay, the child was just taking a walk.

A large bale of hay was reported on the roadway on U.S. Route 24 at U.S. Route 6 at 3:38 p.m. Sunday. Officers moved the bale to the side of the roadway.

A burglary was reported at 921 Welsted St. at 5:33 p.m. Sunday. An officer checked out the complaint and reported the incident was unfounded.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

Deputies are investigating a crash on County Road 2 near County Road M in Damascus Township reported at 2:36 a.m. Sunday. A deputy reported a vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, rolled over once and came to rest in a ditch. No driver was at the scene when deputies arrived. The vehicle is owned by Keith E. Vollmar of Bowling Green. Damage to the vehicle was disabling and it is unknown if there were any injuries.

Charlotte M. Pinson, 48, of Hilliard, Ohio, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign following a two-vehicle crash on State Route 18 at State Route 108 in Holgate Sunday at 12:37 p.m. Samantha A. Burk, 23, of Archbold was southbound on Rte. 108, while Pinson was westbound on Rte. 18. Pinson stopped at the posted stop sign then proceeded into the intersection causing a collision. There were no injuries reported and both vehicles sustained moderate to disabling damage.

A warning was issued in a telephone harassment complaint filed at 9:05 p.m. Saturday by a subject at 240 Depot St. in McClure.

A property damage complaint was filed at 11:53 p.m. Saturday by a subject at 17714 Township Road 16 in Napoleon Township.

Deputies assisted personnel at Henry County Hospital with an incident at 6:18 a.m. Sunday. No other information was available.

Deputies checked out a domestic dispute at 2290 State Route 65 in Damascus Township at 11:04 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies assisted the game warden with a complaint at 3:06 p.m. Sunday in the area of 5546 Township Road 10 in Marion Township. Deputies also assisted the game warden with a complaint on County Road L between county roads 17D and 19 in Flatrock Township at 3:19 p.m. Both incidents involved deer hunters.

A warning was issued in a driving complaint filed at 7:20 p.m. Sunday on Rte. 24 at County Road 1 in Washington Township.

Deputies arrested Ronald Patton, 25, of Napoleon Saturday at 1:01 a.m. on State Route 110 east of Campbell’s Soup Supply Co. in Harrison Township on a warrant out of Lucas County. He was transferred to Lucas County authorities.

A fight was reported on State Route 65 in Damascus Township Saturday at 2:15 a.m. No other information was available.

Victor Guerrero, 37, of Napoleon was arrested on a warrant at 15105 County Road Z in Flatrock Township Saturday at 2:18 p.m. He was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

A driving complaint was filed on a vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 24 from Defiance County at 3:44 p.m. Saturday. Deputies located the vehicle and warned the driver.

A subject at 18849 Township Road T in Freedom Township reported telephone harassment Saturday at 8:16 p.m.

A mailbox was reported smashed at 10437 County Road V in Liberty Township at 10:03 p.m. Saturday.

A suspicious person was reported on Rte. 65 south of McClure in Damascus Township at 11:11 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies responded to State Route 109 in Monroe Township Sunday at 6:35 a.m. for a civil matter concerning issues between a husband and wife.

An alarm was reported at Speedway at 1:52 a.m. Saturday. Officers checked the building and reported all was okay. Another alarm was reported at Speedway at 2:09 a.m. Saturday, this time due to subscriber error.

Two subjects were reported seen running from The Henry County Bank on East Washington Street and getting into a car at 11:58 a.m. Saturday. Officers checked with the bank and reported all was okay.

Erika Baden, 40, of Napoleon was charged with theft following an incident at Wal-Mart Saturday at 6:07 p.m. She was taken to CCNO. An employee at Wal-Mart reported the theft of a desktop computer at 11:37 p.m. Saturday.

Alesha R. Lulfs, 19, of Liberty Center was westbound on County Road T in Freedom Township Wednesday at 7:50 a.m. when her vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. Lulf’s vehicle slid into the ditch, struck a culvert and flipped over, coming to rest on its top on the roadway. Lulfs suffered minor injuries and was transported to Henry County Hospital by Napoleon Rescue. Damage to Lulf’s vehicle was severe.

On Wednesday at 11:05 a.m., a vehicle owned by Larry D. Wheeler of Malinta was parked in a lot at Patrick Henry High School and was side swiped by an unknown vehicle. Wheeler’s vehicle was driverless at the time of the incident and damage to the vehicle was moderate.

On Wednesday at 3:12 p.m., a vehicle driven by Lincoln Wolf, 17, of Napoleon was turning eastbound from Westmoreland onto Bales Road when he lost control of his vehicle and it slid off the roadway, striking a sign owned by the City of Napoleon. Wolf and a passenger in his vehicle, Benjamin Flogaus, 17, of Napoleon were uninjured. Damage to Wolf’s vehicle was minor. Wolf was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control.

Gerald R. Smith, 50, of Hamler was northbound on State Route 109 in Marion Township Monday at 3:27 p.m. and attempted to turn east onto County Road G. Another northbound vehicle on Rte. 109 operated by Andrew J. Hermiller, 17, of Malinta was behind Smith’s vehicle, failed to slow in time and struck Smith’s truck on the back right side of the trailer. Hermiller suffered minor injuries. Smith and a passenger in Hermiller’s vehicle, Christopher JC Cody, 18, of Malinta were uninjured. Hermiller’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. No damage was reported to Smith’s vehicle.

Christmas decorations were reported damaged at 101 N. Damascus St. in Liberty Center Monday at 2:05 a.m.

Michael C. Gruen, 24, of Napoleon was northbound on State Route 108 near County Road U in Freedom Township Sunday at 12:49 p.m. when a deer ran into the side of his vehicle. Gruen was uninjured and damage to his vehicle was minor.

Courtney L. Richard, 16, of Sherwood was traveling south on Scott Street Sunday at 3:23 p.m. when she attempted to make a right turn into the Chief Supermarket parking lot. A vehicle traveling behind her, operated by Dustin M. Mansfield, 29, of Columbus Grove, failed to see Richard slow down to make the turn and struck her vehicle in the rear. Richard, and a passenger in her vehicle, Lewis P. King, 58, of Defiance, and Mansfield and a passenger in his vehicle, Ronald P. Mansfield, 51, of Ottawa, were all uninjured. Damage to Richard’s vehicle was moderate and Mansfield’s vehicle sustained no damage.

An employee at the Napoleon Post Office reported the theft of seven floor mats from the lobby Tuesday at 2 p.m.
- 2 p.m.? while it would be impressive, it's unlikely that someone stole the mats off the floor in the middle of the day. they were likely stolen overnight, because the post office keeps the doors unlocked. apparently the postal workers didn't notice the missing mats until 2 p.m. the following day. here's the puzzling part. despite the workers' obvious lack of observational prowess, they did know EXACTLY how many mats there were.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

Hossein A. Nehmeh, 28, of Maumee was eastbound on County Road D near County Road 12 in Marion Township at 2:52 p.m. Friday when he swerved to avoid striking a deer. Nehmeh’s truck traveled off the south side of the road, reentered the roadway and traveled off the north side of the road. Nehmeh attempted to reenter the road again, lost control and his truck overturned on its side, coming to rest on the roadway. Nehmeh suffered serious injuries and was transported to Defiance Mercy Medical Center by Henry County Medic 1. His vehicle sustained disabling damage. Nehmeh was cited for failure to control. Also assisting at the scene was Hamler Fire Department and Holgate EMS.

Tracy L. Whetstone, 46, of Defiance was westbound on State Route 18 in Flatrock Township at 1:48 a.m. Saturday when she advised she swerved to miss a deer and drove off the north side of the road. Whetstone struck a mailbox, decorative fence and utility box. Whetstone was uninjured and was cited for failure to control.

Officers are investigating a burglary reported at 1:04 a.m. Monday by a subject at 1318 Woodlawn Ave. A television, an Xbox and an IPod were all reported stolen.

Two vehicles were reported blocking the view at the intersection of Lagrange and Willard streets at 6:25 a.m. Monday. An officer reported the vehicles were on private property.

Deputies responded to a verbal argument in the 100 block of William Street in Holgate Wednesday at 5:22 a.m.

A subject in the 700 block of Sheffield Avenue reported a transformer was sparking at 5:20 a.m. Thursday. The matter was referred to the city utilities department.

A sick racoon was reported by a subject at 560 Buckeye Lane at 10:12 a.m. Thursday. An officer took care of the animal.

Approximately $325 in movies was reported stolen by a shoplifter at Wal-Mart Thursday at 2:26 p.m. An employee at Wal-Mart also reported receiving a fradulent check at 11:23 a.m. Thursday.

A bicycle was reported stolen from 207 E. Front St. Thursday at 4:13 p.m.

On Thursday at 7:40 a.m. a vehicle owned by Savitabeh K. Patel of Sturgis, Mich. was disabled along side of Rte. 24 in the eastbound lane near County Road 16 when an unknown vehicle struck it in the rear driver’s side and failed to stop to report the crash. It was advised the vehicle was broken down along Rte. 24 at 9:26 p.m. Wednesday and the crash occurred in the early morning hours when heavy fog was present. No one was injured, but damage to the vehicle was disabling.

A driving complaint was filed on Rte. 24 near County Road 4A in Liberty Township at 2:04 a.m. Thursday. Deputies located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Another driving complaint was filed on State Route 66 in Ridgeville township Thursday at 3:27 p.m. A deputy located and spoke to the driver.

A disabled vehicle was reported at U.S. Route 24 and Scott Street at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was gone upon an officer’s arrival. A disabled vehicle was also reported in the 100 block of West Washington Street. Officers assisted in getting the vehicle running.

A burglary was reported at 626 Park St. at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday. It remains under investigation.

A suspicious person was reported at Wal-Mart at 11:28 p.m. Tuesday.

Napoleon Police Department

Megan E. Markley, 16, of Napoleon was traveling in the 1300 block of Scott Street when she began to slow down due to traffic. An unknown vehicle struck Markley’s vehicle in the rear and left the area without reporting the accident. Markley was uninjured and damage to her vehicle was minor.

Tondra S. Rausch, 62, of Columbus was cited for operating a vehicle while under the influence following an acident in the Lutheran Home parking lot Friday at 6:30 p.m. Rausch was traveling north on South Perry Street and turned right into the Lutheran Home. Rausch failed to negotiate the turn and struck a sign on the Lutheran Home’s property. She proceeded east on access drive, left the road to the south and struck a “no trucks” sign. She then proceeded east, turned north into a parking area and struck a tree. Rausch suffered minor injuries and her vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Benjamin J. Hewett, 50, of Mitchell, Ga. was backing into a parking spot at Travel Centers of America truckstop when his trailer struck the front of a semi operated by Wendell S. Young, 47, of El Reno, Okla. No injuries were reported. Young’s vehicle sustained no damage while damage to Hewett’s was minor.

Firefighters were dispatched to 1209 Rye St. at 1:18 p.m. Saturday for a garage fire. Damage was minimal and officials are investigating the possibility of the fire being an arson. No other information was being released at this time.

Florida/Flatrock Township Fire Department

Fire crews were called to 13366 County Road K at 12:46 p.m. Saturday for a woods and field on fire. Holgate firefighters were dispatched at 1:14 p.m. for mutual aid. Holgate was back in service at 3:07, while Florida cleared the scene at 4:21 p.m.

A report of disorderly conduct at 98 Courtland Drive was received at 2:24 p.m. Thursday. At 3:28 p.m., a report of juveniles fighting in the area of West Washington Street was received but officers could not locate anyone.

An employee at Circle K reported a theft at 3:55 p.m. Thursday.

A stop sign on Indiana Avenue was discovered damaged at 5:52 p.m. Thursday. It is unknown who struck it or when.

A report of a black pickup truck driving all over the road in the area of Industrial Drive and Rte. 24 was received at 7:12 p.m. Thursday but could not be confirmed. A semi was reported all over the road on Rte. 24 near Rte. 6 Friday at 8:16 a.m. Officers were unable to locate.

Timothy Davis, 30, of Napoleon was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Thursday on a warrant issued out of Napoleon Municipal Court.

Misuse of a credit card was reported at 9:18 p.m. Thursday by a subject on West Washington Street.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

James D. Weisenburger, 49, of Oakwood was northbound on State Route 108 in Napoleon Township Monday at 11:55 p.m. when he struck a deer that ran into his vehicle’s path. Weisenburger was uninjured, but his vehicle sustained minor damage.

Alice J. Janick, 73, of Malinta was southbound on State Route 109 in Monroe Township Tuesday at 10:53 a.m. when she stopped at the posted stop sign at County Road L and proceeded into the intersection. An eastbound vehicle on Rd. L driven by Roger A. Fickle, 60, of Wauseon struck the left side of Janick’s vehicle and it came to rest in the roadway. Fickle’s vehicle continued around the block and then returned to the scene. Janick suffered minor injuries and was transported to Henry County Hospital by Malinta EMS. Fickle also suffered minor injuries and was taken by the Henry County South Joint Ambulance District to Henry County Hospital. A passenger in Janick’s vehicle, John Janick, 43, of Malinta was uninjured. Damage to both vehicles was moderate.

Donnie E. Sellers, 64, of Hamler was arrested for menacing Tuesday at 12:50 a.m. at Hefty’s Bar and Grill in McClure.

A disabled vehicle was reported at Circle K in Liberty Center at 3:07 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies found the vehicle was occupied and all was okay.

A suspicious female was reported by a subject at 224 N. Ash St. in Deshler Tuesday at 5:36 a.m. All was found to be okay.

Keys were reported stolen from JR’s Used Furniture in Monroe Township Tuesday at 12:31 p.m.

A domestic dispute was reported on Township Road 7 in Liberty Township at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

A 9-1-1 hang-up was received from 3123 Township Road J in Richfield Township at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday. All was found to be okay.

Randy L. Beverly, 48, of Delta was cited for driving under suspension Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. following a traffic stop at 6-155 State Route 110.


Napoleon Police Department

On Monday at 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of Rte. 108 and Rte. 110, Richard Rudolph, 78, of Napoleon was stopped in traffic when his vehicle was rear-ended by a southbound vehicle on Rte. 108 operated by Rebecca Torock, 36, of Napoleon. No injuries were reported for Rudolph, Torock or a passenger in Torock’s vehicle, Steven Torock, 17, of Napoleon. No damage was reported to Rudolph’s vehicle and Torock’s vehicle sustained minor damage.

Roger H. Borstelman, 60, of Napoleon and Jacob A. Freppel, 37, of Napoleon were both parked in the lot next to the U.S. Post Office when Freppel began backing from his spot at the same time Borstelman began backing from his, causing the vehicles to collide. No injuries were reported. Borstelman’s vehicle was not damaged and minor damage was reported to Freppel’s vehicle.

A subject at 830 Monroe St. Tuesday a 11:30 p.m. reported the theft of a dog. More than $2,000 in cash was reported stolen from a residence at 734 N. Perry St. Tuesday at 6:43 a.m. At 12:48 p.m. Tuesday, miscellaneous items and prescription cream were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at 235 Maumee Lane.

Two juveniles were reported trying to get into an apartment at 1800 Oakwood Ave. at 11:34 a.m. Tuesday.

Carlos F. Martinez, 35, of Napoleon was charged with domestic violence Tuesday at 5:23 p.m. at 317 W. Clinton St.

A subject at 1049 Dodd St. reported the windshield of their vehicle was shot out at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday.

New Bavaria Fire Department

Firefighters were called to the scene of a field fire on County Road C2 near County Road 15 Tuesday at 2:12 p.m. The department cleared the scene at 3:12 p.m.

Henry County Hospital

Alison and Keith Witte of Liberty Center had a boy weighing 8 pounds at 11:52 p.m. Monday.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

An arrest was made in a domestic dispute on County Road 14B in Napoleon Township Sunday at 11:20 p.m. No other information was available.

A suspicious person was reported on State Route 18 east of County Road 7 in Bartlow Township at 11:44 p.m. Sunday.

An alarm sounded at McClure Carry Out Monday at 4:51 a.m. Deputies reported all was found to be okay.


An unruly juvenile was reported at 9:40 a.m. Monday on County Road X in Ridgeville Township.

A driver’s license was reported found by a subject at 435 S. First St. in Hamler at 5:36 p.m. Monday.

Napoleon Police Department

An officer checked an open door reported at 1049 Dodd St. Sunday at 10:16 p.m. All was found to be okay.

A domestic dispute was reported in the 400 block of Independence Drive at 7:53 a.m. Monday.

A Bank of America debit card was reported lost Monday at 8:39 a.m.


An accident was reported on West Washington Street at 10:16 a.m. Monday. No other information was available. Another accident was reported at 4:10 p.m. Monday at East Maumee Avenue and South Perry Street. No other information was available.

Solicitors were reported selling Hanson windows in the 800 block of West Main Street at 1:24 p.m. Monday. An officers advised them to stop and file the correct paperwork.

A man’s wallet was found on County Road P at 3 p.m. Monday. At 5:45 p.m. Monday, a brown woman’s wallet was found on County Road R near State Route 108.

Billy Rowe, 36, of Sherwood was arrested on a warrant Monday at 4:45 p.m. on U.S. Route 24 at the Defiance County line for failure to pay on no operator’s license charges. He was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

A disabled vehicle was reported on County Road R near Rte. 108 at 6:54 p.m. Monday.

A suspicious vehicle was reported Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Riverview Frosty Boy.

Disorderly conduct was reported on Hobson Street near Shelby Avenue Monday at 7:08 p.m. for juveniles on bikes using vulgar language. Officers were unable to locte.
Unruly juveniles were reported on Northcrest Circle Monday at 8:30 p.m.

Monroe Township Fire Department

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:06 p.m. Monday to J-135 County Road 11 in Monroe Township for a field fire. The department was back in service at 6:32 p.m.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

At 9:25 p.m. Saturday, Weston L. Walter, 16, of Bryan was northbound on County Road 17 in Napoleon Township when he stopped for a posted stop sign, attempted to turn eastbound onto County Road P and lost control of the vehicle, ending up in a deep ditch. Neither Walter nor his passenger, Courtney Hartman, 14, of Bryan were injured. Damage to his vehicle was minor.

Latasha M. Newsome, 19, of Napoleon was cited for failure to control Sunday after an accident on State Route 109 in Monroe Township. Newsome was southbound on Rte. 109 at 8:04 a.m. when she went off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch. Upon an officer’s arrival, a tow truck had already removed Newsome’s vehicle from the ditch. Newsom suffered minor injuries and damage to her vehicle was disabling.

Jessi M. Harkcom, 23, of Stryker was traveling on State Route 18 in Monroe Township Sunday at 12:32 p.m. when her vehicle struck a deer. Harkcom was uninjured and her vehicle sustained moderate damage.


Mark Meade, 38, of Napoleon was charged with operating a vehicle while under the unfluence Saturday at 12:07 a.m. following a traffic stop for crossing over marked lanes on State Route 110 near County Road 12 in Napoleon Township.

A subject at U-429 Township Road 17 in Freedom Township reported people out toilet papering Saturday at 12:43 a.m. Deputies were unable to locate.

Gary Hoffer, 40, of Napoleon was arrested on a Napoleon Police Department warrant Saturday at 12:46 a.m. on Hobson Street north of Front Street.

Justin Schwable, 22, of Napoleon was charged with assault at 14149 County Road S in Napoleon Township Saturday at 5:18 a.m.

Mailboxes were reported damaged at 410 E. Hubbard St. in Hamler Saturday at 8:59 a.m. Another mailbox was reported damaged Saturday at 11:55 a.m. at 15052 Township Road N in Napoleon Township.

Zane Wood, 23, of Wawaka, Ind. was cited for driving under suspension Saturday at 7:10 p.m. following a driving complaint on U.S. Route 6 near U.S. Route 24.

At the Holgate Village Office Saturday at 8:24 p.m., a verbal argument was reported. An argument was reported by a subject in the 300 block of East Maple Street in Liberty Center Sunday at 11:30 a.m. 

A subject at 455 S. East St. in McClure reported a dog barking at 9:21 p.m. Saturday.

Kids were reported playing football in the street near DK’s Eats and Treats in Holgate Saturday at 9:31 p.m.

George Medina, 75, of Malinta was charged with obstructing justice Sunday at 9:17 a.m. at I-254 Rte. 109 in Monroe Township.

Subjects were warned for harassment Sunday at 12:05 p.m. at county roads 13 and R in Napoleon Township.

A suspicious vehicle was reported on County Road L at the railroad track in Monroe Township Sunday at 12:10 p.m. Deputies found it was employees working on the train.

Brandi Eberly, 31, of Napoleon was arrested Friday at 9:02 p.m. at 413 W. Clinton St. on a warrant out of Fulton County for failure to appear.

A disabled vehicle was reported on Industrial Drive near Rte. 24 Friday at 10:30 p.m. An officer advised the vehicle ran out of gas. An officer advised of a disabled vehicle on Carey Street near Scott Street Saturday at 2:45 a.m. It was reported the subject got the vehicle going.

A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 2400 block of Glen Arbors Drive Friday at 9:52 p.m.

A subject was warned for trespassing and disorderly conduct Friday at 11:08 p.m. after officers received a call of a person passed out on the ramp in the alley at Rick’s Sports Bar.

Gary Hoffer, 40, of Napoleon was arrested on a warrant out of Napoleon Municipal Court Saturday at 12:46 a.m. at East Front and Hobson streets for an income tax violation and failure to pay. He was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

A vehicle was reported to be all over the road and traveling at a high rate of speed at Industrial Drive and Rte. 24 Saturday at 3:12 a.m. Officers were unable to locate. A driving complaint was filed on a semi in the 900 block of North Perry Street Sunday at 11:15 a.m.

An officer advised a house at 1085 Becca Lane was toilet papered Saturday at 3:57 a.m.

A dispute was reported in the 400 block of Independence Drive at 8:08 a.m. Saturday.

Two dogs were reported running loose at 227 Yeager Street at 9:52 a.m. Saturday. The owner secured the dogs.

An open door was reported at 610 Jefferson St. at 3:21 p.m. Saturday. The door was secured.

Disorderly conduct was reported at 131 Railroad St. at 8:24 p.m. Saturday. The matter was referred to another department.

A noise complaint was filed Saturday at 10:07 p.m. at 519 W. Maumee Ave. Loud music was reported at 852 Monroe St. Sunday at 3:32 p.m. There was no violation found upon an officer’s arrival.

Courtney Hackney, 18, of Napoleon was arrested on a warrant out of Napoleon Municipal Court Sunday at 1:36 a.m. on Dagget Drive near West Maumee Avenue for failure to appear. She was taken to CCNO.

Tires were reported slashed on a vehicle parked at 1315 Woodlawn Ave. at 2:07 a.m. Sunday.

A suspicious person was reported in the 100 block of West Washington Street Sunday at 2:56 a.m. An officer advised it was two subjects walking in the area delivering newspapers.

Officers assisted the Napoleon Fire Department with an open burning complaint in the 1600 block of Glenwood Avenue Sunday at 11:16 a.m.

Melissa Gessner-Long, 35, of Defiance was served a summons to court for theft Sunday at 3:01 p.m.
